Meet P R I M A L

Established in 2017

Whatever you do, make it your mission to unearth your primal self through body adornment.

Swapping the pink dress in Agent Provocateur to full latex in Covent Garden managing a flagship luxury lingerie boutique, I hobbled in my stilettos whilst completing both three years in Fashion Design followed by a further three in sculpture at University of the Arts London.

Soon enough, after the years of fitting women into high end lingerie and bondage, I worked out that I needed to start designing. The perfect amalgamation of experience had led me to the leather shops and I sought to make my first ouvert playsuits, with custom orders flowing soon after.

Through self teaching and an exploratory practice, I’ve created pieces that both sculpt and form sculptures on the body. Silhouette forming and enhancing is key to every piece that’s made. You’ll find each item is unisex and it is up to the wearer to experiment and brave discovering the shape on their body. Through years of learning what cuts make the flesh revealer feel good, I create styles that contour, accentuate and create from a place of experience.

Whilst using luxury leather and quality hardware in our pieces, we also have a conscious eye on sustainability. You’ll discover in some of our collections, we utilise re-purposed elements from old horse bridalry. Not only do we find this important for longevity, we adore the knowledge of wearing something that’s had a previous history. A work horse that’s trained for it’s owner or a show pony parading.

The embryo

From the beginning of time we have adorned ourselves. Transcendent over every ethnicity, culture and gender identity, we have beautified the body. Regardless of standards of beauty, we’ve explored modifying it. Primal is born out of anthropological observation and creates sculptural leather bondage and accessories for everyday wear and private practice for all. We encourage liberation through self determined physical restriction, or desire to restrict another, unearthing our innate instincts in the process.

Drawing reference from the primordial beginnings of body adornment, we started our experimental journey with enhancement and form giving to the human frame. Leather harnesses have been used both to accentuate, pronounce and in contrast, to be illusionary, to create a new silhouette. To bind, contort, prohibit and protect, leather has offered shelter, armory, empowerment and now seduction to its owner.
